Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) as a service

Forward deployed engineers who ship AI inside your business.

Your AI team, already hired.

Example of a pilot our FDEs ship

Sound familiar?

You know AI could save your team hours. Nobody inside has the time or skills to build it.
Customers and the board ask about AI every quarter. The answer is still a plan.
A pilot ran. It never made it to production.
Your people use ChatGPT. Your systems don't.
For software companies

Your customers are asking for AI features. We ship them inside your product.

Our FDEs work in your codebase, next to your engineers, and ship the AI features on your roadmap while your team keeps building the core product.

Your roadmap, your stack. We work in your repo, your cloud and your review process.

Production, not demos. Evaluations, monitoring and guardrails ship with every feature.

Clean handover. Your engineers own the code and know how it works.

Why AI projects stall

Almost everyone uses AI. Very few have it running at scale.

Buying AI tools is easy. Getting AI to work inside your own systems, every day, is the hard part. That last mile is where most projects stop.

2%

of companies surveyed have operationalized AI at scale, even though 94% already use generative AI.

26%

of IT leaders say AI is scaled and governed company-wide, while 82% say it's already in production somewhere.

729%

year-over-year growth in forward deployed engineer job postings by April 2026. Companies need builders, not more advice.

Hiring

The right engineers are scarce

Experienced AI engineers who can ship to production are in short supply, and most want to work at AI companies.

Tools

Tools stop at your systems

Off-the-shelf AI tools stop at the edge of your ERP, CRM and shared inbox. That's where the real work lives.

A roadmap tells you what to build. Someone still has to build it, test it, and keep it running.

Forward deployed engineering, explained

What is a forward deployed engineer (FDE)?

Definition

A forward deployed engineer (FDE) is a software engineer who works directly inside a client's business to build, integrate and ship custom software, usually AI, into the client's real systems and workflows. The FDE stays accountable until it works in production.

Palantir pioneered the FDE model. In 2026 it became one of the most sought-after roles in AI, with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Cloud, Microsoft and the largest consulting firms building FDE teams.

Why FDEs, and why now

The models are good enough. The bottleneck is connecting them to your messy, private data and the systems your team works in. A 2026 study estimated about 17,000 FDEs in the U.S., against demand forecast to rise 2,100%. That's why hiring your own is slow and expensive.

FDE as a service

Remqa gives you an embedded FDE team without recruiting one. Our FDEs work inside your environment, ship production AI systems, and run them for as long as you want.

How we're different

Engineers who ship, not advisors who present.

Working software first

You see a live system in your environment early. Decks are optional.

FAQ

Forward deployed engineering: common questions.

What is a forward deployed engineer (FDE)?

A forward deployed engineer is a software engineer who works directly inside a client's business to build, integrate and ship custom software, usually AI systems, into the client's real systems and workflows. Palantir pioneered the role. OpenAI, Anthropic and others now run FDE teams.

How is an FDE different from a consultant?

A consultant usually delivers a strategy or roadmap. An FDE writes production code inside your systems, ships a working AI system, and stays accountable for it running. Remqa's FDEs do the building, not just the advising.

Why use FDEs as a service instead of hiring FDEs?

Experienced FDEs are scarce and expensive. A 2026 study cited by TechCrunch estimated about 17,000 FDEs in the U.S. against demand forecast to rise 2,100%, and OpenAI's U.S. FDE listings offered base salaries of roughly $146,000 to $280,000. Remqa gives you an embedded FDE team without recruiting one.

We don't have anyone who owns AI internally. Is that a problem?

No. That's who Remqa is built for. Our FDEs act as your AI team. We need the person who owns the workflow and access to the systems involved.

Do we need clean data before we start?

No. Getting the data needed for one use case into shape is part of the pilot. You don't need to finish a data project first.

How is our data kept safe?

Our FDEs work inside your environment wherever possible, follow your access and approval rules, and choose model providers and settings that fit your security requirements. Your IT team signs off on the setup before anything goes live.

What does an FDE engagement cost?

The workflow review is free. The pilot is scoped and priced after the review, so you know the number before work starts. Ongoing work after that is a monthly engagement.

Which AI models and tools do your FDEs use?

Whatever fits the job and your security rules. Remqa isn't tied to one AI vendor, so you're not locked in. If a simpler non-AI fix works better, we'll say so.

How involved does our team need to be?

About an hour a week from the person who owns the workflow, plus access to the systems involved. Our FDEs do the building.
